Lanya (Lane) Elsa, Ph.D

Itinerant Teacher of the Deaf

Lanya (Lane) Elsa is an Itinerant Teacher of the Deaf for Listen and Talk’s Outreach Program. She has e a PhD in Special Education from University of Northern Colorado.

25 years ago Lane’s oldest son started at Listen and Talk in the infant-toddler program and now she is a professional in the field. Lane has so many amazing memories from that time.

Her background is in self-advocacy, self-determination, and working with children who are deafblind or have additional disabilities. Previously, she was the Director of the Idaho Project for Children and Youth with Deafblindness and has also been involved with the Washington Deafblind Program.

Lane enjoys building Legos and spending time with her family at their cabin in Hood Canal. She loves that she is now in this new role at Listen and Talk.
With six kids, Lane says it’s often chaotic and loud at her house. She enjoys hearing her teens laughing and having fun with each other (yes, it sometimes does happen!)
