Chandra Gilbert
Chandra Gilbert is a hard of hearing board member for Listen and Talk. Chandra was born and raised on a small farm near Black Diamond, WA. After finishing her degree in Linguistics from Washington State University, she then decided to pursue her dream of world travel and became nomadic for about seven years.
In 2018, Chandra became fully deaf in one ear and was diagnosed with an Acoustic Neuroma. She had her ear resected while living in Germany. Since that time, she has made a full recovery (minus hearing.) In 2020, Chandra returned home to visit and was locked down during the pandemic where she, met her now husband. They now both work in the tech industry.
A friend invited Chandra Gilbert to the Listen and Talk gala where she was surprised to learn that her cochlear implant surgeon was on the board for Listen and Talk. She was intrigued and then reached out to her friend to learn more about the organization. Once Chandra learned more about the mission, she decided to serve as a Listen and Talk board of trustees member. She is excited to be a part of this incredible group! Chandra hopes to be a valuable asset to Listen and Talk. She is excited to contribute her experience as a hard of hearing adult along with her expertise in children’s education and languages.
