Listen and Talk provides school teams with comprehensive support, strategies and testing to maximize student success in the classroom.
As an increasing number of children who are deaf, hard-of-hearing or have hearing loss enter their neighborhood schools, it is clear that careful planning and preparation positively impact their school experiences. Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing children have unique needs and concerns, and experience in dealing with these needs is critical to developing an appropriate and enjoyable school program for children, families, and teachers.
With support from the Washington Center for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Youth (CDHY), Listen and Talk is part of the Statewide Outreach Team providing expertise in listening and spoken language for families and schools through consultative services, including but not limited to IEP reviews, IEP development, classroom observations, speech and language assessment, in-services, professional support, and ongoing monitoring and support of children placed in neighborhood schools.
Teams serving children who are deaf or hard-of-hearing in any (public or private) educational setting can request Statewide Outreach support. Requests must be renewed at the beginning of each school year.
