Employee Spotlight: Christine Teteak
Where are you from?
Seattle, WA
Why did you decide to work for Listen and Talk?
As a graduate student, I worked as a TA for someone who (at the time) oversaw the HOPE School in Spokane, WA. She knew me well, and recommended that I observe at Listen and Talk and consider it as a placement for my final graduate internship.
I loved the program when I observed, and was lucky to be placed at Listen and Talk for my final graduate internship in early 2006. I was hired the next school year and I’ve been here ever since!
What do you love most about your work?
I get to work with amazing children and families. I love watching the growth our students make during their time at Listen and Talk. When students are getting ready to transition to kindergarten, I love to look back through my notes from their first session when they entered the program, and see just how much they have grown.
What do you like to do for fun?
I spend most of my free time with my my husband and son, our families and friends. These days, finding time to myself is hard to do, so I enjoy just sitting back and relaxing when the opportunity arises. And, as strange as it sounds, I LOVE to organize!
If you could be any animal in the world, what would you be and why?
If I could have a super power, it would be to fly; so I think if I had to pick an animal, I’d be an eagle.
